Living Room Design Inspiration!

Hi Friends,

We are currently in the moving stages so no decorating or renovating is happening yet, but we have the a general idea of what we want to do. Our first major renovation will be the kitchen, but since the living room doesn’t need much work, I though I would finish it first and then move on to the kitchen and dining area. I want to share the before pictures with you guys as well as the inspiration and my plan for the design.

The photos above are the listing photos I got from Zillow, so I apologize for the quality. As you can see the kitchen needs a ton of work, so we will tackle that as soon as possible. The living room just needs new flooring, fireplace update, and new fan. Technically the carpet is new, but we will be installing hardwoods throughout the whole house, just not right away. The fireplace will also have to wait, even though I can’t stand that tile, but I will change out the fan for sure because it’s pretty ugly.

I pretty much have a design in mind of what I want to do, so I created a mood board with all my main pieces together to kind of visualize it all. My husband doesn’t always get what I have in my head so this helps to get him on board with my design plans. LivingRoomDesignPlan2I had a bunch of pieces in mind and the ones I have chosen above were what we both liked and actually agree on. Believe it or not, my husband can be very picky and is has a great eye for design too, so we need to be on the same page before we make up our mind about something. It works out great though, because we will have a very thought out and carefully put together space in the end (at least we hope to).

Below are some of my favorite spaces that I’m using as inspiration.

I think I’m seeing a pattern with the leather couches, but I will most likely keep our current sofa and have leather armchairs instead. Even though there’s a slight chance I might change my mind. I’m probably the most indecisive person you’ll ever meet, so it may be a while before you see me make a decision on that.

The bamboo type shades in the above photos are my latest obsession. I’m still debating on whether I’m going to replace all of the blinds in the house with them. I’ve done some research and they’re not cheap. I’ve got a few other options in mind though, so we’ll just have to see what I decide on eventually.

The last 2 photos have the Peggy Chaise Sectional, which I really wanted to replace my Peggy Sofa with, but West Elm has discontinued the line.

Another thing that I didn’t really include in my mood board is a midcentury credenza, that I’m totally picturing in our space. We have a store here called Vintage Vault that usually has a few available, so I may be getting one of those eventually.
