I’ve got another party to share with you guys, and I’ve been a bit hesitant to share this one, since the pictures didn’t quite turn out as good as everything looked in person. I think this means I’ve got to get myself a real camera. The thing is though, they would have turned out much better if the party had been outside, the way we had originally planned it. It was quite eventful actually, so I’ll start at the beginning.
This party was actually for my husband’s 32nd birthday. We didn’t get to have a party for his 30th because it was just a few days after our wedding and we hadn’t quite recovered from that to throw another party. So we decided to do it this year, and to go really big with this one. My husband wanted to do a country theme, and I thought it would be fun to add a bit of vintage, coca-cola décor as well. We had a guest list of about 50 people and decided to do it at my parents’ place, since they have a lot of room outside.
Here’s where it gets a little sad. After we knew for sure it was going to rain, we decided to get tents. Then after having one tent blown away by really strong winds the day before the party, we realized it wasn’t going to work so the next step was to move inside. I was still holding out, because I knew it was supposed to stop raining in the afternoon, but it was just too cold, so I finally gave up and we set everything up indoors. This also meant that we had a lot less room, and we couldn’t have the hay bale benches anymore (insert a row of sad faces). I did talk my parents into letting me bring at least one hay bale inside for décor.
The party still turned out great and after it stopped raining we brought all the sweets outside and set up my hay bale benches to have tea. And my husband got to pull all the kids around in a wagon with hay bales (that was part of his plan for the party too). Anyways, here are all the details in pictures.
And that about sums it up. I wish had gotten some pictures of the outside later in the day, but I may have been enjoying it too much to worry about pictures.
